70’s theme parties are all the rage at the moment. They are a great opportunity to enjoy the music, movies and fashions of the era while having fun with all your friends. Choosing fancy dress costumes for a 70’s theme party can be difficult though. When it comes to 70’s fancy dress, you could be spoilt for choice. Here are some original costume ideas to help you look great at your 70’s theme party.

•    70’s Rocker
When people think of 70’s musicians, the mind is automatically drawn to the classic ABBA cat suits. However, there are plenty of iconic 70’s musicians that you can draw costume inspiration from. You could don a layered black wig and drawn black and white designs on your face and go to the party as a member of Kiss, or wear oversized flares and glasses and go as Elton John.

•    Movies
Plenty of classic movies were released in the 70s, and there many of costume ideas to be drawn from them. Of course, Grease and Star Wars costumes are popular at any fancy dress party, but for a more individual look, you could try dressing as superman, a character from the Godfather or even Jaws!

•    Disco
The 70s was the decade that gave us disco. Iconic disco outfits are sure to go down a storm at 70’s theme nights. Simply team some flared trousers with platform shoes and don an elaborate coloured wig, are you’ll be sure to look the part.
