"I approach my painting with a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques. After drawing the initial composition, I then wash in color trials with paint and turpentine. When satisfied with the result, I paint directly for the most part, modeling the shapes and values. I use glazes when the painting is mostly done to adjust for light and dark and to enhance color relationships. I have tried many different mediums but prefer that which I mix myself, based on a traditional formula of varnish, oil and turpentine."
